I haven’t posted much from the news in a while, but today I saw this article that appeared last Thursday in a Huffington Post blog by Peter Gleick. He comments on his view of the four most important national water challenges. I generally agree with him, but I would have liked to see an acknowledgement of the role of land management, perhaps forest land management in particular given that about 2/3 of the Nation’s runoff comes from forested areas. This article largely reflects his new book that came out this summer through Oxford University Press. I guess I should order the book!
The article is one of a few that have been popping up on the internet or in the news reflecting on the 40th anniversary of the Clean Water Act and how far we come and where still need to go. Here are some other examples:
